Sustainability

Sustainability is a way of life and should be considered across all businesses, households and personal lives. Slow fashion unlike much of fast fashion embraces locally sourced and ethically materials that have less impact on mother nature and may last longer than the alternatives. Every S.M.D process from production to packaging is considered.

Printing and Fabric

I partner with a local Melbourne business Next State Printing who use an Oeko-Tex approved digital printing process for original and custom designs creating little to no waste.
I love celebrating other Australian Artists' work and source gorgeous prints on 100% Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton from another Victorian business.
Additionally, I'm an avid op-shopper and love creating something new out of the old and unwanted items, so many of S.M.D scarves are upcycled from an assortment of materials purchased or found across Melbourne.

Wastage

Most of the unused material is created into reusable wax wraps (currently not available online), however, the small offcuts of fabric that can't be used are given to a local jewellery business where unique earrings are handcrafted.

Packaging

Each scarf is wrapped in eco-friendly recycled tissue paper, sealed with a HeapsGood bio-degradable sticker and enveloped in a home-compostable shipping bag.
Each package comes with a thank you note which is printed on seeded paper, after you've read your personalised notes you plant the seeded paper to grow your own flowers or veggies right in your own garden!
